Get your download and purchase key again

For anyone who has bought Fair Copy Edit, on any computer, at any time.

  1. Go to your order page and enter the email address you used at checkout.
  2. Lemon Squeezy emails you a sign-in link. Open it on any device.
  3. Your order shows the current installer and your purchase key.

If you no longer have access to that email address, contact us with your order number and we’ll sort it out.

Install and activate

  1. Download Fair Copy Edit from your order page.
  2. Install it on a 64-bit Windows 10 (version 1809 or later) or Windows 11 computer. It installs for your user account, without administrator access.
  3. Open Tools › Licence and activation… (or Activate Fair Copy Edit… on the welcome screen), paste your purchase key and press Activate.

Before activation, everything works except making the finished video and Shorts.

Activation sends your purchase key and this computer’s code (a one-way code made from Windows’ machine id: not your name, files or projects) to Fair Copy Edit’s activation service, which checks the purchase with the shop. After that Fair Copy Edit works offline; nothing is sent while you edit.

No internet on that computer? Activate on another device.

Reinstall, or move to another computer

Your licence is active on one computer at a time. You never need to buy again to reinstall or replace a computer.

You can change computers up to 3 times in any 30 days and 10 times in any 12 months. Your first activation, reinstalls and updates on the same computer, and monthly renewals never count. If you need more, for example after a repair, reply to your receipt email and support will reset it for you, free of charge.

Your situationWhat to do
Reinstalling or updating on the same WindowsNothing to do. If the licence file was lost, activate again with the same purchase key.
A new computer, and the old one still worksOn the old computer, choose Tools › Licence and activation › Move to another computer…, then activate on the new one.
A new computer, and the old one is lost, dead or has had Windows reinstalledOn the new computer: Activate, then Move the licence to this computer.

The old computer stops making finished videos when it next goes online (bought once), or when its current licence runs out (monthly).

When something goes wrong

  • The download fails or stops

Start it again from your order page, where the link is always current. If it keeps failing, contact us and say which browser and connection you’re using.

  • The purchase key isn’t accepted

Copy it from your receipt rather than typing it, and check that the computer is online. Fair Copy Edit shows the activation service’s own explanation: follow what it says. If it still isn’t accepted, contact us with your order number. Never send card details.

  • The editing computer has no internet

Use Activate on another device: enter your purchase key and that computer’s code (Tools › Licence and activation › Copy the computer code), download the licence file, then choose Load licence file… on the editing computer.

  • Your monthly access has ended

Your recordings, projects and finished videos are untouched and keep opening; only making new finished videos and Shorts waits. If your subscription is still active, connect to the internet and press Check my subscription now (Tools › Licence and activation). To continue after cancelling, start a new subscription or buy Fair Copy Edit once.

  • Managing or cancelling a monthly subscription

Open Manage subscription and sign in with the email you used at checkout. Cancel before your next renewal: Fair Copy Edit keeps working until the end of the period you’ve paid for.

  • The activation service or the shop is unavailable

Nothing changes. Try again later; a monthly licence keeps working to its date.

  • Asking for a refund

Within seven days of your purchase, or of your first subscription payment, contact us with your order number. A refunded licence stops making finished videos at its next online check; if a monthly renewal payment is refunded, that month’s access ends. Your projects and earlier videos stay. Your rights under consumer law are unaffected.

Buying

How do I buy Fair Copy Edit?

From the Buy page, once checkout opens: choose monthly or buy once, then pay by card or PayPal on Lemon Squeezy’s secure checkout, which shows any tax for your country before you pay. Your receipt arrives by email with your licence key and a link to your order page, where you download the installer.

I’ve lost my download link or purchase key. How do I get them back?

Go to app.lemonsqueezy.com/my-orders and enter the email address you used at checkout. Lemon Squeezy emails you a sign-in link, and your order page has the current installer and your purchase key. If that email address no longer works, contact us with your order number.

Who processes my payment?

Lemon Squeezy, acting as merchant of record. It’s the seller shown on your receipt, it takes the payment, and it calculates and pays sales tax, VAT or GST. We never see your card details.

Licence and purchase terms

Can I move Fair Copy Edit to a new computer?

Yes. Your licence is personal and active on one computer at a time, so you never buy again to reinstall or replace a computer. If the old computer still works, choose Move to another computer… on it, then activate on the new one. If it’s lost or dead, activate on the new computer and choose Move the licence to this computer. You can change computers up to 3 times in any 30 days and 10 times in any 12 months; your first activation, reinstalls and updates on the same computer, and monthly renewals never count. If you need more, for example after a repair, reply to your receipt email and support will reset it for you, free of charge.

Reinstall or move to another computer

Can I get a refund?

Yes. Ask within seven days of your purchase, or of your first subscription payment, for any reason: contact us with your order number. This voluntary policy doesn’t limit your rights under consumer law, including the Australian Consumer Law. A monthly subscription can also be cancelled before its next renewal. If a monthly renewal payment is refunded, that month’s access ends; your recordings, projects and finished videos are always kept.

Licence and purchase terms

How do I cancel a monthly subscription?

Open Manage subscription on this site, which takes you to Lemon Squeezy’s customer portal, and cancel before your next renewal. Fair Copy Edit keeps working until the end of the period you’ve paid for. After that, your recordings, projects and finished videos stay; only making new finished videos and Shorts waits.

Manage subscription

Can you edit my videos for me instead?

Possibly. Edited for you is a small, boutique service, by enquiry only: there are no public prices or packages, and no online checkout. Tell us about your recordings through the form on its page, and if it’s a good fit and we have room, we’ll talk it through.

Availability

Can I buy it now?

Checkout isn’t open on the website yet. When it opens, you buy Fair Copy Edit for Windows on the Buy page, monthly or once, and download it from your own order page. The Buy page already explains both plans and what you get.

Buying and plans

What’s planned next?

Fair Copy Edit for macOS is coming soon. Planned for the Windows application: more hands-on transcript review, stronger automatic inspection of finished frames, and links to your channel’s analytics. Consistent results in subjects unlike the creator’s own aren’t proven yet, so we don’t promise them.

Features

Can I see it working?

Yes. The Demonstrations page has short films about how Fair Copy Edit works, from a one-minute overview to a guide for beginners, and two real edits from the creator’s own channel, drawn to scale.

Editing

What is Fair Copy Edit?

A Windows desktop application for editing speech-led recordings from a word-timed transcript. It reads your brief and the whole recording, proposes what stays and what goes, checks every planned cut against the source, and renders the version you approve. The original recording is never altered.

Features

What is the AI actually doing?

It reads and proposes: what the recording is about, what has to stay together and what could go. Claude Code does this from your brief and the whole transcript. Programmed checks then test each proposal against the source, risks are flagged for you, and you decide.

How it works

Why not just use an AI editor myself?

You can, and for some videos you should. But an AI editor is a tool, and a tool still needs checking. Fair Copy Edit is a method around the AI: it reads the whole recording first, ties every cut to the exact words, checks the plan before anything is cut, and saves every edit as its own version, so any decision can be reversed.

How it works

Can I use my own edit plan?

Yes. Instead of Claude’s plan you can write a cut sheet by hand, or use the “ChatGPT edits the video” route: you copy a request to ChatGPT and paste back its editing plan. Either way, the plan goes through the same validation before anything is rendered.

The workflow

What kind of recordings suit it?

Talk: teaching and preaching, interviews, podcasts, panels, debates and long-form commentary, anything where the meaning lives in what people say. Music videos, effects-led productions and heavily scripted work aren’t what it was built for.

What it suits

Does it make Shorts?

Yes. It extracts 9:16 vertical Shorts with face-aware framing and captions from the same source. Not every recording yields a usable Short, and you decide whether one stands on its own.

Outputs

Who makes Fair Copy Edit?

It was designed by Jethro Geier in Queensland, and grew out of the production system he designed for his own channel. AI coding tools wrote the software to his specification.

The Story

Approvals

Does it publish anything automatically?

No. Fair Copy Edit doesn’t approve its own editorial decisions and doesn’t publish anything. You watch the preview, approve the version you want, choose what to render, and publishing is always your own action.

The checks

Will it still sound like me?

It’s your recording, so it’s your voice. Fair Copy Edit cuts; it doesn’t rewrite. Cuts are applied to your original recording and every one is traced to the words it removed. You approve the finished video before anything is published.

The house rules

Can I change or undo an edit?

Yes. Every edit is saved as its own version that you can go back to, and nothing is deleted unless you choose to free up space. Every cut can be traced to the words it removed. Re-rendering a corrected version doesn’t need fresh AI planning.

The workflow

Compatibility

Does it run on Mac or Linux?

Fair Copy Edit is a desktop application for Windows. Fair Copy Edit for macOS is coming soon. There’s no Linux version.

Requirements

What do I need to run it?

A 64-bit Windows 10 (version 1809 or later) or Windows 11 computer, about 0.6 GB of disk space plus at least 5 GB free per project, your own ElevenLabs account for transcription (or an existing word-timed transcript), and Claude (your own plan or API key) or any AI for editing. Minimum hardware will be set from the release build; for now, a recent 64-bit PC with 8 GB of memory is recommended.

Requirements

What files does it produce, and what can I bring in?

It produces a full-quality 16:9 MP4, an SRT caption file timed to the edit, 9:16 vertical Shorts where a passage stands on its own, and working files such as previews and the edit record. It reads any video with a sound track that FFmpeg can read, including .mp4, .mkv, .mov, .avi, .webm, .mpg and .ts, with no size limit; recordings are only read, never changed.

Outputs

Installation

The computer I edit on has no internet. Can I still activate?

Yes. On that computer, open Tools › Licence and activation… and press Copy the computer code. On any device with internet, open Activate on another device, enter your purchase key and the code, and download the licence file. Then choose Load licence file… on the editing computer. After that it works offline.

Activate on another device

How is it installed?

Download Fair Copy Edit from your order page and install it on a 64-bit Windows 10 (1809 or later) or Windows 11 computer; it installs for your account, without administrator access. Then open Tools › Licence and activation…, paste your purchase key and press Activate. After that it works offline. No internet on that computer? Use Activate on another device.

Install and activate

Costs

How much will it cost?

There will be two options: a monthly subscription, for access while you’re subscribed, or a single payment for a version that is yours to keep, with every Fair Copy Edit 1.x update included and version 2.0 and later not included automatically. Prices are published on the Buy page when checkout opens.

Buy Fair Copy

Are there other costs?

Possibly, through your own accounts. ElevenLabs bills its transcription; Fair Copy Edit shows an estimate and asks first. Automatic editing uses your Claude plan’s allowance or bills your API key, or you can copy and paste with ChatGPT or any AI on your own plan. Fair Copy Edit never charges usage fees itself, and cutting, rendering, subtitles and exports cost nothing extra.

Costs

What if my Claude allowance runs out?

Switch on manual mode. It turns Claude off, and cut sheets, ChatGPT, rendering, Shorts and finals keep working. Anything that would use your Claude allowance says so in its own label before it starts.

In the application

Privacy

Is my footage uploaded anywhere?

No. Your recordings, edit operations and rendered files stay on your computer. When you authorise transcription, the audio is sent to ElevenLabs, and the relevant transcript, your brief and editorial information go to your AI service so it can plan. Activation sends only your purchase key and a one-way computer code. Each provider’s own terms govern what it keeps.

Data handling

What happens to what I send through this website?

Your message is emailed to us so we can reply. It isn’t added to a mailing list or used for advertising. The privacy page explains what’s collected and how to ask for it to be corrected or deleted.

Support

What support will there be?

Documentation on this site, and best-effort help by email with installation, licensing and faults: report a fault through the contact form. There’s no set response time, and support doesn’t include video-editing lessons or custom work. Updates come while a monthly subscription is active; a once-off purchase includes every Fair Copy Edit 1.x update, without another purchase.
