Privacy
How this website handles the information you send through it. Last updated 6 November 2026.
Who we are
This website is operated by Jethro Geier, the designer of Fair Copy Edit, in Queensland, Australia. For privacy questions, access or correction requests and complaints, use the contact form and write “privacy” in your message.
What this policy covers
This policy covers the website only. The Fair Copy Edit application runs on your own computer and doesn’t send anything to us. Your recordings and rendered files stay on your computer; audio goes to ElevenLabs when you authorise transcription, and the transcript and your brief go to your AI service for planning, under your own accounts with those providers. The details are on the features page.
What we collect, and why
If you use the contact form, we collect your name, email address, the topic you choose and your message. If you register interest, we use your name and email address only to tell you when Fair Copy Edit becomes available. If you tick the acknowledgement box, we send one short confirmation email.
How messages are delivered
The website is hosted on Cloudflare, and form submissions are delivered to our mailbox by Resend, an email delivery service. Submissions are not stored in a database by the website; the hosting platform may keep short-lived technical logs.
Buying Fair Copy Edit
Purchases are handled by Lemon Squeezy, which sells Fair Copy Edit to you as merchant of record. It collects your payment details, billing details and email address under its own privacy policy, and we never see your card details. It shares your order details with us, including your name, email address, country and purchase key, so that we can support your licence and answer questions about your order.
Activating Fair Copy Edit
Activation, whether in the application or on our Activate on another device page, sends the following to Fair Copy Edit’s activation service, which runs on Cloudflare and checks the purchase with Lemon Squeezy’s licence service.
| What | Kept |
|---|---|
| Your purchase key | Only as a one-way SHA-256 hash, while the purchase can be used |
| The computer’s code: a one-way code made from Windows’ machine id, not your name, files or projects | Only as a one-way SHA-256 hash, as above |
| The application’s version | Not kept |
| From Lemon Squeezy: the order number, your name or masked email, and the plan | With the purchase record, as above |
A monthly subscription is checked with the same details, at most once a day and only when the computer is online. Checks for updates and for withdrawn licences send nothing about your computer. The activation service keeps no payment details, no email address in full and no IP addresses; to limit misuse it may count requests from each address for up to two hours, using a one-way code rather than the address itself. Its hosting logs are switched off. Fair Copy Edit has no analytics or telemetry and needs no account with us. Transcription (ElevenLabs) and AI editing (Anthropic) happen only when you start them, under your own accounts. A support report is made on your computer, shown to you first, sent only by you, and never contains your purchase key.
This website
The website does not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels and does not currently run analytics. The FAQ search runs entirely in your browser; your searches are not sent to us or to any AI service.
Sharing and security
We do not sell or trade personal information and do not share it for marketing. Information is kept only as long as needed to respond, or until you ask us to remove your registration of interest.
Your rights
You can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and withdraw a registration of interest at any time through the contact form. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
Changes
If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
